That’s an interesting question James (and sorry it took so long for a response). In some ways, we all participate on our own terms.

Anyone who’s been in a leadership position sees the wide variety of commitment level, even among temple recommend holders. Have you ever been in charge of home teaching (back when it was called that)? I have.

With that said, I returned to the church with the intention of being a fully participating, tithe-paying, temple recommend holding member. In April, I will complete a one-year probation for re-baptized members before I can qualify for an ordinance called the “restoration of blessings”. At that point, I will once again hold the priesthood and be able to attend the temple.

In terms of practice, I’m quite traditional. In terms of what’s going on inside of my head, I’m very non-traditional. But hopeful that I can contribute to my ward in positive ways.
